In addition to monetary awards reaching from $40 to $500, students will be honored with medallions as well as plaques.
Perhaps most honoring in this occasion will be the aired by WLRH 89.3 of the first place winners on Sundial Writer’s Corner during the morning blend program.
Alanis Craig, winner of first place in the artwork category reflected on her accomplishments, “I believe I won because technology is a current theme that is popular at the moment….A tip for anybody is to research what is popular at the moment and base your idea off of that.”
These talented students are inspired by the world around them. When asked what inspired her, Madelyn Wong reflected on her piece that earned recognition in the poetry division, “ My friend asked me what I would tell my ten year old self, if I could go back in time…”
She recalled when she was being bullied about her ethnicity and the insensitivity of others, “When you’re that age and don’t know about your identity… it’s important to know that you can be proud about being Asian, and I am proud I am Asian.”
