The A-Day game is the last practice in the spring allowed by the National Collegiate Athletic Association in which the university team is split, and they scrimmage against each other.
At 11:15 a.m. there was the Walk of Fame at Denny Chimes. Prideofthetide.com says the Walk of Fame has been a tradition since the spring of 1948. Some people even feel the ceremony is the most important tradition. Alabama is the only school that does the Walk of Fame.
Then, kickoff at 1 p.m.! Roll Tide!
At halftime, there was dog trick entertainment. Two dogs and their trainer took midfield and showed the crowd their many tricks and their ability to catch a frisbee.
At the end of the fourth quarter, the White team took the win against the Crimson team with a final score of 17-13.
Tuscaloosa was packed that day with 73, 506 attendees, topping all the other teams’ spring game attendance. Alabama had almost 3,000 more people attend then Auburn, according to rollbamaroll.com.
“The game was so fun. I had never been to an Alabama game and it was great to go while it was free for everyone. It was kind of hot though,” says Blake Polson, a Bob Jones junior and lineman on the BJHS football team.
Angie Bush, a teacher at James Clemens, says, “I can’t wait to see what the teams have in store this year. War eagle!”
At the end of the day, everyone went home sunburnt and ready for more Alabama football.
