Here in Madison, we pride ourselves not only on our ingenuity and dedication to football, but also on our undying community support. On November 29, citizens were encouraged to support small businesses in the area with Small Business Saturday.

Local/small businesses are the backbone of our community. Without these establishments, there is not only a loss of revenue but a loss identity. Part of what makes Madison unique is the abundance of successful, citizen-owned businesses.  More over, the owners of these businesses are not only our fellow residents, but our neighbors, parents, and the people we say hello to during a grocery run.

Additionally, when you buy from local businesses, the products always have an element of charm, a unique quality that cannot be found in mainstream business. With the Christmas season here, there’s no better time to open up your hearts and your wallets to show that you care!

So if you find yourself stressing over what to wear to a college interview, head on over to The Cotton Gin for a sure fire look. Or if your sweet tooth can’t be controlled, forget about the Walmart snack aisle and pop on over to the Chocolate Crocodile and get your fix. Check out these local substitutes for your shopping needs:

  • Chocolate Crocodile
