Prince: Gone but Legend Lives On

Today, April 21, a pop legend has died. Prince Rogers Nelson was reported allegedly dead around 11 am on Thursday. These suspicions were confirmed around 4 pm. Prince was found unconscious and unresponsive in an elevator at Paisley Park Studies in Chanhassen, Minnesota. He died at the age of 57.

In honor of losing such an amazing man who shaped pop culture and inspired artist to be themselves and independent black artist, there have been many tributes.  President Obama said, “We have lost a creative icon.”

Google’s logo turned purple in honor of his death.  A weatherman in Wayne County, Tennessee changed the rain on the green screen graphics to purple.

Many celebrities have expressed their grief.  Samuel Jackson said, “Massive Loss for us all! What a Genius! Speechless.”  Katy Perry tweeted, “And just like that…the world lost a lot of magic.”
