The December meeting was a pivotal one.
As defined in the Constitution of the Council, the election of a new Chairman would take place in this meeting. The outgoing Chairman, Simon Adkins, served his duty well over his yearlong term in office. However, in the January meeting, he will vacate his place in favor of Karsten Wallace and his Deputy Chair, Audrey Holschen. Since our new leaders won their elections nearly unanimously, the delegates have placed immense faith in those two to lead us into the next semester and beyond.
Following the elections, normal business resumed. Delegates whose proposals were due for presentation went up and made their pitch; the remaining body of Delegates voted on their fate. We voted on:
- $800 for Baseball – PASSED
This money is to go to repair the roof of the “Baseball Shed,” which is leaky, and said leaks have caused thousands of dollars worth of equipment to be ruined.
- $1,500 for AFJROTC – PASSED
These funds will contribute towards AFJROTC’s annual competition against James Clemens, in which there is free food. Most of that money will go towards paying for the food, but funds will also be appropriated for trophies and new equipment.
- $500 for a National Art Honors Society – PASSED
With this $500, the NAHS will raise a new panel of artwork in the Auditorium Hallway.
The Council will convene again in January. We will be eager as ever to distribute funds to our clubs.
