Since the beginning of the production of movies, there have been countless horror films which people have grown to love. Dracula, Jason, Michael Myers, and Freddie are all classic characters. Some of the classic films, though, have been replaced by Saw, Paranormal Activity, and Insidious
“Saw is my favorite scary movie; I love the way the traps are planned out,” said Emily Bohatch, senior.
“The first Paranormal Activity is my favorite because its scary and original,” said Michael Stephens, junior.
People will disagree on which era of horror movies is better. The scary films of the past are more controlled and calm to a sense of understanding. In the present they are twisted, sadistic, and gory. These new trends seem to appeal more to teens
I think that the movies back in the day were not as scary as the ones now, but they made more sense and the characters seemed to be smarter; have you noticed that the people in scary movies now are dumb? They have no clue how to stop the monster or ghost. They always want to split up, and never want to work together.
Matt Kuenzli (junior) thinks, “The dumbest part is when the girl screams.”
The girls in scary movies feel like running around flailing their arms while screaming is going to make whatever is about to kill them go away. This I never understood.
Watching scary movies is such a great way to past time. You get to look at people make fools of themselves, see blood gushing everywhere, and find yourself having a hard time going to sleep later.
So, grab a friend, a seat, and a scary movie and be on the look out for new horror flicks on their way to theatres. Insidious 2 was recently released, and Carrie will be out on Oct.18.
