It’s National Positive Thinking Day! One positive thought can make your day even better.
Imagine you were hanging out with your friends and someone started being negative towards themselves and others around them. The negative words they say: Would you want the negative attitude around you? If you had to choose a group to hang out with, you would want to choose the group that lifts people up with encouragement rather than the group that tears people down. Putting yourself around those who think positively allows you to be more positive too!
After asking students if they think positive thinking helps them, over 90% say it does. Danielle Kessler shared, “It has made me accomplish more.” Thinking positively has not only helped students in school, it has also helped them with their mental health when they become overly anxious. Students have stated in a survey, that some of the things that positive thinking has helped them with is getting through a rough day, making better choices, and an increase in their happiness.
Thinking positively helps many students with their self-image and how they respond to others. One student shared, “I have daily affirmations I tell myself. It has made me a happier person and also improved the way I think about life.” Another student shared, “I think about myself a lot, so I try to always add something positive! If I feel like I’m doing work slowly, I think about how I’m actually doing my best work and not rushing it. I give myself little good thoughts to keep me going.” Every student has their own way to think positively, to themselves or to others.
Instead of becoming negative in a situation when you feel stressed or upset, count to ten and tell yourself that everything is going to be okay and THINK POSITIVELY. Positive thinking can happen in any situation, such as getting ready for the day, studying and so many more.
