MPA, (or the Musical Performance Assessment), is a prestigious event in the concert band community. Many band from surrounding districts gathered at Decatur High School on Friday to toot their own horns. After a 15 minute warm-up, bands headed to the stage perform a 8-12 minute program, then exit for the sight-reading portion of the competition–sight-reading is where members of the band are given music that they have never seen before and are given 8 minutes to analyze the piece, and after that time is up, they have to perform the piece. Bob Jones Concert Band and Wind Ensemble both achieved superior ratings for their performances.

I am a senior, and a flute player in the band. I like to be outside to enjoy nature around me. I can be a bit random at times, and I am very opinionated. I listen to all types of music and hold no real preference. As for after high school, I plan on going into Forensics and being some type of analyst, but I am thinking about getting a degree in Cosmetology for the time being to pay bills and save up for school.
