It’s Lit at Drama Fest
November 2, 2016
The night you have been waiting for is finally here. An electrifying night filled with magic, applause, tears, and laughter…Drama Fest. The Bob Jones Patriot Players will be performing a variety of dramatic pieces for your enjoyment. Now, we say dramatic but some of them will be quite hilarious! So stop by Bob Jones, in the South hallway and auditorium at 6:30 this Thursday, November 5, to see some fantastic acting! Tickets will be $5 a person at the door. These tickets give you access to performances for the rest of the night, including the one-act production.
Duets, monologues, and musical theatre individual pieces will be performed in different classrooms and onstage from 6:30 until 7:30. At 7:30 the Advanced Production students will perform their forty-five minute, original one-act show.
This year’s one-act production is titled “A Resonant Frequency.” Students from the Advanced Production theatre class have worked under the direction of Mary Davis, B. Dwayne Craft, and students directors Logan Romero and Jordan Howard to bring you a new and exciting experience! This year’s performances will shine a spotlight onto scientist Nikola Tesla, played by Seth Slaton, and the people surrounding the brilliant and quirky scientist.
“It’s a really, really interesting story. A lot of people currently have gotten reinterested in Nikola Tesla. The show gives a human side to a man that most people just think is a great inventor. It’s fast paced, visually exciting and has a lot of strong actors…” said director and playwright B. Dwayne Craft.
We hope you will join us for a shocking night of theatre!
(We wish to make all audiences aware that this one-act utilizes intense lighting effects. We urge caution if you are sensitive in any way to bright, flashing lights. They are only momentary, but they occur a few times throughout the show. )
