December 2, 2017, Bob Jones AFJROTC Drill Team went to Hazel Green to compete against several other JROTC units across the county, and the unit added three new trophies to their collection around the room.

Every Monday and Thursday Morning, they practice with Chief Master Sergeant Clark for every meet they may attend. Each trophy is a symbol of how much work, frustration, and drive the drill team has built up since their first practice at the beginning of the semester.

Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Nikolai Fadairo commanded the Unarmed Squad at Hazel Green, earning second place out. When asked about the final thoughts on the competition, he stated, “I felt pretty confident about the competition as a whole… I guess I was kinda nervous. While I was on the floor, I wasn’t afraid of calling a wrong command.” He also stated that he “wanted to make this a great competition because there is a chance that this was [his] last drill meet.”

Commanding the Inspection Squad, Cadet Major Hannalyn Wilks and her team earned first place. Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Ethan Mawhirter commanded the Armed Squad, also earning first place

If you know those that are on the Drill Team, congratulate them for they worked hard to bring JROTC and Bob Jones more gold home. As a unit, we are proud of their accomplishments and hope to see more for future meets to come.
