Destination Imagination Rules
March 8, 2018
The Destination Imagination teams from Discovery and Bob Jones all won first place in their challenges at regional competition. They will compete again at the DI state tournament in April.
Via an email, the Bob Jones coordinator Mrs. Dauma said, “I am so proud of these students, not only for their victories, but for how exceptionally they represent us all in competition!”
Ella Waddell, a senior on the team, said, “My team participated in the Fine Arts challenge, A Change of Tune. We did research on failing paints and the artists who painted them. Using our research, we created a two-act musical featuring “IKB,” “Mona Lisa,” ‘The Little Dancer,” and “Napoleon Crossing the Alps.”
Other students competed in the Improv challenge. Trevor Peck said, “We’re an improv team, so we had to do an improv skit (well, it’s sort of improv; we had to plan a five-minute skit in two minutes). We also had to an instant challenge where we built a bridge out of straws and pencils.”
Mrs. Dauma added, “I welcome anyone who’d like to see DI in action to join us as we welcome DI teams from around the state to the state tournament on April 7.”
