For the past two years, the students in the color guard and the winter guard won the most Outstanding Color Guard in the state of Alabama.

This success inspired them to take on some of the best guards in the country to compete to perform during the pre-game show of the Outback Bowl in Tampa, Florida. Even though Arcadia High School from California won overall, Bob Jones won the title ‘Best Performance in Color Guard.’ In this category, they beat Arcadia’s guard, which is ranked as a world-class guard (two class levels above Bob Jones).

The Bob Jones Band Booster Committee wanted to find a way to display and recognize winter guard not only as a competitive art but also as a sport. They surprised the girls by revealing that they now have their own banner in the gym. This sign will be up on the wall alongside with volleyball, basketball, and competition cheer.

The committee shared, “We are so proud of our winter guard and wanted to commemorate their winning the Scholastic A State Championship for 2018 & 2019. Last night, after a great Goodies with the Guard, we presented the girls with the banner that will hang in the school gym. Great job, girls!”
