The Blue Knights AFJROTC Drill Team and Honor Guard recently attended the 7th Annual Redstone Arsenal Sergeant Major Association North Alabama Region Drill Competition where they placed 1st overall.

This is the second year in a row the Blue Knights took the 1st place trophy home at this competition. Their tireless attendance of six a.m. practices, two days a week, exemplifies their immense degree of hard work and determination. The Blue Knights competed against nine other schools in the North Alabama region, including Hazel Green High School, one of Bob Jones’s biggest rivals. They competed in seven events which included Armed Platoon Regulation, Unarmed Platoon Regulation, Armed Squad Regulation (two teams), Unarmed Squad Regulation (two teams) and Color Guard Regulation (two teams).

The team placed in the following drill sequences:

1st place-

  1. Unarmed Platoon
  2. Armed Platoon
  3. Unarmed Squad (Team 1)
  4. Honor Guard (Team 1)

3rd place-

  1. Unarmed Squad (Team 2)
  2. Honor Guard (Team 2)

and 2nd place in Armed Squad (Team 1).

Needless to say, the Blue Knights have high prospects for the drill season this year. The team plans to attend the AFJROTC Open Drill Nationals in late March to compete against the best AFJROTC drill teams from around the nation.

Best of luck to our AFJROTC Blue Knights in surpassing the competition,

GOTTA WANNA!
