The Bob Jones Swim and Dive teams competed at state recently, and our Girls’ team brought home the state championship. Our Boys’ team placed 5th, which is also quite the accomplishment.

Samantha Chan won the 200-yard medley and the 100-yard butterfly, and Abby Chan placed 2nd in the 100-yard butterfly. Several other students placed as well.

Principal Sylvia Lambert shared her take in the weekly newsletter:  “Congrats to BJ Swim & Dive as both teams competed at State in Auburn! Our Girls team WON the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!! Our Boys finished 5th in State! Their season was absolutely outstanding! Two years ago, our Girls won 3rd in State & last year, our Girls won 2nd. So, they have been building toward their State Championship for this year! Congrats to Coach Wade Thaxton, our student-athletes & to our supportive parents! This is a fantastic accomplishment for our school & our community! Tradition has it that the principal & coach takes a dip in the pool when their team wins State. I was so happy to end up in the pool to celebrate with our Girls Championship team! A state championship is a big accomplishment!”
