Bob Jones Varsity Wrestling is headed to the State Duals Tournament because of their hard-fought second-place win on Saturday, January 7, at James Clemens High School. The team is now one of the top 8 teams in the state. Bob Jones competed against several 7A schools from North Alabama. They fell one match short of an upset against Huntsville High, the #2 school in the state. Troy Hennigan (120lbs), Tafari Alcime (220lbs), Maddox Sunderman (285lbs), Ben Lessman (145lbs) and Scott Davidson (152lbs) all went undefeated in their respective matches. Coach Sweatman credits the team’s success on the tough schedule that they have had thus far. On Thursday, the team will travel to Thompson High School (ranked #1 in Alabama) to compete in the Duals State Quarter-Finals. The competition will be tough! On Monday, January 16, Bob Jones will host the Dick Clem Memorial Tournament. More information on this tournament to come.
