Mean Girls: High School Version

Wow. This is an amazing choice of a show. Everyone in the program is very excited. This is a great opportunity for the Patriot Players to learn and grow with a fresh and modern show. 

This musical, based on the 2004 movie of the same name, was on Broadway from 2018-2020 and is now on a national tour. It was nominated for 12 Tony Awards in 2018 including Best Musical. The Licensing company Music Theatre International (MTI) gives this synopsis of the show: 

“Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. But when Cady devises a plan to end Regina’s reign, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a queen bee without getting stung.”

To be clear, although they will be performing the “High School Version” of this show, unlike other High School Versions of Broadway shows, this is not an abridged version and is virtually identical to the Broadway Production. It simply gives the directorial team the option for some language edits to make it more age-appropriate.
