On April 5, 2024, Redstone Arsenal hosted “JROTC day,” an event in which they invited schools from all over North Alabama to attend. Over 700 cadets showed up and showed up with their school pride. The day started off with a panel of cadets from Alabama A&M. At the panel, these cadets talked about what it takes to be a leader as well as answer any burning questions the younger cadets might have had.
After the panel, there were a variety of different stations that cadets were allowed to visit, ranging from seeing tanks to learning about missiles to rock climbing. At the end of the day, Redstone hosted a fitness competition. And, of course, the BJHS AFJROTC Blue Knights had to show their pride. The Blue Knights went against 15 schools ranging from Army, Marines, Navy, and Space Force JROTC units as well as cadets from Alabama A&M.
The Blue Knights put in their best and it paid off. The Blue Nights won the Commander’s Cup in the fitness competition, beating all the other schools. The team was composed of left to right) Estaban Del-Rio Perez, Emily Welborn, Kricket Johnston, and Logan Jackson.
