As the Fall semester comes to a close, Bob Jones High School AFJROTC held its annual Fall Awards program on Thursday, 5 December, 2024. This event recognized cadets for their outstanding achievements and dedication to the Corps of Cadets. Cadets were recognized for several different achievements. A few of the most honorary awards included the Achievement Ribbon, an award given to cadets who plan and execute an incredibly successful fundraiser, community service project, or event that positively impacts the entire Cadet Corps and community. The Outstanding Cadet Ribbon was awarded to four cadets from each grade level who exhibit dedication and excellence above their peers within AFJROTC. Another award; presented by Athletic Director Kurt Yancy was the Gold Physical Fitness Award, awarded to cadets who score over 95% on their Physical Fitness Tests. Cadets who attended the 2024 National Raider Challenge were awarded a medal to recognize their competitiveness and hard work.
AFJROTC’s Senior Aerospace Science instructor, Major (U.S. Air Force retired) Melissa Lacey, was presented with the 2024-2025 Veteran of Foreign Wars Citizenship Teacher of the Year. The award was presented by Sgt Major (U.S. Army retired) Bobby Lee, Jr., the 65th Commander of the Gentry-Isom VFW Post 2702 in Huntsville, AL. The VFW identifies and recognizes America’s best educators who instill a sense of national pride in students. Major Lacey’s package will be forwarded to the Alabama State Teacher of the Year competition in January.
