On 13 September, 2025, Bob Jones AJROTC Drill Team and the Physical Training (PT) Team attended the Drill and Fitness competition that was held at Millbrook, AL. Cadets arrived at Bob Jones High School for a 0500 departure.
At the competition, PT Team competed in events that tested not only their athletic ability such as running, push ups, and sit ups, but also their perseverance, stamina, and ability to work as a team.
On the contrary, Drill Team members who were led by C/ Caitlyn Johnston in the unarmed flight regulation routine and the Honor Guard led by C/ Steeler Daw, competed in unarmed Honor guard regulation . During the Flight routine, Cadets were tested on their ability to march, which consists of Staying on step, staying on tempo, being in sync with the rest of the team, and having “snappy” movements. During Unarmed Inspection, Cadets were tested on military bearing, discipline, and cadet knowledge as well as Marching ability, and cadets during the Unarmed Honor Guard routine competed in “snappy” presentation and control of the rifle and colors. At the end of the competition, the Drill Team had won 2nd Place in Unarmed Inspection and was awarded with a trophy that is displayed proudly in the AFJROTC Classroom.
On the trip back, due to unfortunate events in which a Rival school, Colombia Highschool, had their bus break down in the middle of a highway. Through the generosity of Major Ret. Dr. Cadets from Colombia Highschool were picked up on the bus with Bob Jones Air JROTC Teams as well as the already pre-existing JC Army JROTC Honor Guard who had been previously sharing the bus before. Even though the three schools were rivals with one another, the cadets from the different JROTC’s made Friends and networked and got along nicely. This act of mutual respect and kindness from all sides represented professionalism and service before self which are all core values that JROTC across all the branches pride themselves in.
