The Wendy’s High School Heisman Award highlights one outstanding male and one female athlete from each school to move forward to compete at the state and then hopefully the national level. Being nominated for the award is a huge honor and brings much recogniton to those fortunate enough to receive it. A past award finalist, Matt Barkley, attended the ESPYs due to his athletic achievement in high school.
The winners at Bob Jones were David Lee in swimming and Darby Rasch in soccer. David and Darby both also are on a pace with academics that stand out along with their athletic ability as well. Both students are humble and will continue to be in humble in the face of a huge spotlight for athletic acheievement. “I feel honored to be selected over everyone else who was deserving of the award,” Darby proudly exclaimed about her selection. Both will be able to go one to prestigious schools for academics or athletics. “I want to play soccer in college, I couldn’t picture me doing anything else.”
