The Auburn Tigers football team has had a spectacular season thus far, with with the help of impact player Tre Mason. The team is currently ranked seventh in the SEC, and it promises to move up the rankings as long as it keeps winning. On Saturday, November 4th, Auburn managed to score a win against the Arkansas Razorbacks 32-17. In 2012, Auburn lost to Arkansas, 24-7. It is amazing how much Auburn has grown since last year. The transition is remarkable from the devastating previous season which yielded only winning 3 games, to this year’s season, which has already achieved nearly twice as many wins.
I believe that the Tigers have a good chance of beating Alabama this year in the Iron Bowl. The players of the Auburn team have proven themselves to be worthy opponents. It won’t be an easy game to win, but it will definitely be a close one. Although they have lost their head coach, Gene Chizik, the Auburn Tigers have risen again under the leadership of former offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn. Malzahn has done a fine job as the new head coach, solidifying his success by defeating the formidable Texas A&M football team. The game was close, with back to back scoring and turnovers, but the Tigers managed to stick it out and claim the win.
On Saturday, November 11th, Auburn will play against the Tennessee Volunteers, who have done well this season. Matt Kuenzli(Junior) optimistically said, “Auburn is going to destroy Tennessee,” but it might not be wise to underestimate the Volunteers.
In 2010, Auburn became the SEC champions and the national champions. If the Tigers keep playing with the same attitude and determination, they could fight their way to another SEC championship game, and perhaps even to the National championship. The team will have some considerable obstacles to overcome (including the number one ranked University of Alabama team), but as long as the Tigers maintain their tenacity, they can look forward to an exciting season.
