On Thursday, November, 21 2013, the Bob Jones Patriots faced the James Clemens Jets in basketball. This was one of the most anticipated games for both Bob Jones and James Clemens students. Bob Jones’ record is 3-0 this season, while James Clemens’ record is 2-2 thus far.
James Clemens’ coach, Luther Tiggs, stated that he believes his five seniors are the strongest players in the state of Alabama.
“James Clemens’ hardest team thus far is Lee High School,” shared Coach Tiggs.
This game was a cross-town rivalry in which Bob Jones students “pinked it out” for breast cancer.
Head Coach Graham Aderholt says that he believes his team has improved and has a chance to win a lot of games this year. Bob Jones is looking for a championship this year for the boys’ basketball team.
According to Coach Aderholt, there are players that have returned from last year, giving the team a number of members who have experience.
All the players have been working hard in off season practices. Coach Aderholt expects to see big improvements to his team.
He even explains the strategies he has been using to make his team well-disciplined.
“I push my players in practice to make them more consistent with focusing on the details–fundamentals that create success.”
As the game day approached, students from both James Clemens and Bob Jones began to make predictions for the game.
Deshaun Williams, a senior at Bob Jones, predicted that Bob Jones would win because they have returning experienced players this year. He said a player to watch would be #45, Cameron Gordon.
Bailey Wright, a student from James Clemens, believed James Clemens would win, because he thought the team showed promise in its two wins.
In the end, Bob Jones took the win that night, with a final score of 49-40.
