Practice Makes Perfect: Deondre Douglas
January 16, 2015
Some people may have different definitions of what an athlete is, but Dictionary.reference.com says, “An athlete is a person trained or gifted in exercises or contests involving physical agility, stamina, or strength; a participant in a sport, exercise, or game requiring physical skill.” Deondre Douglas should be listed as an example for this dictionary entry.
Deondre Douglas, now a senior at Bob Jones, has transferred from James Clemens to be with his rightful place among the Patriots. Not only has he slayed the crowds with his amazing skills at basketball, but Deondre is also killing track and field, too.
Practicing usually occurs on the court weekly, but he is also going the extra mile to get his run in at the track. Along with being a hard worker, he is also a great teammate. Coach Aderholt, head coach of basketball says, “Deondre is a fierce competitor that works extremely hard.”
Not only does his Coach believe in his hard work, but his teammates, too. Jonathan Moss, basketball teammate says, “He’s a triathlete, playing more than three sports…most people couldn’t do that. He’s a hard worker.”
According to al.milesplit.com on January 3, 2015 Deondre ran and jumped at the Indoor Meet, Icebreaker Invitational. He placed first in his 60m dash, which let him advance as one of the few out of 94 people running the same event as he. He then placed third in long jump with a jump of 21-06.50 out of the 58 people jumping this event.
Deondre Douglas is a true athlete and one that makes Bob Jones proud.
