Who’s Swinging for 2016?

If you are a student at Bob Jones that enjoys launching large, yellow, flying spheres into fields lined with white paint and brown dirt, you’re in luck.  2016 softball tryouts are approaching in the summer through June 1st, 2nd, and 3rd .  The tryouts will be held at Bob Jones High School and will begin at 5:30pm.

There are a few requirements that you will need before tryouts, most importantly, a physical.

Freshman must attend the Kids’ Camp during the week of June 1st and it is recommended that students trying out have some type of experience with a glove and a bat.

Now, if you are worried about how tryouts will go and how intimidating the whole process might be, don’t worry.

Mikayla Jones, a 12-year veteran of the sport, offers this advice: “Don’t be nervous, it’s just another day of softball. You’ll be fine. Just do what you do best!”

Another incoming senior player Paige Fisher gave her advice. “Make sure that you hustle for everything and that you always stay positive and coachable.” She also gave us tips on what to bring: “Girls who want to tryout should bring all the usual softball equipment like their bat, cleats, helmet, and glove. If they plan on trying out for catching, then they should bring their catching equipment.”
