Bob Jones Basketball Update
December 13, 2015
For the season, the Bob Jones boys varsity basketball record is (2-7), and the girls varsity record is (5-6).
The boys’ team lost 51-53 to James Clemens in a conference match on December 11th, while the girls soundly trounced the James Clemens girls’ varsity team 49-22.
Following a key victory over rival James Clemens, the girls are feeling optimistic about their chances of making it to the playoffs.
“It’s always good to win against your rivalry team or school. The James Clemens game was a very emotional game for all. We are glad that we were able to keep the streak going.” said girls’ coach Andre Reynolds, “The plan is for us to make it to the AHSAA Playoffs and be successful while there. I think we can make it if our team avoids serious injuries and continue to work hard together as one.”
The boys’ loss can be credited to Trai James, who scored 24 points for James Clemens. Bob Jones came very close to winning though, as in the 4th quarter Jonathan Moss and Devontae Mason scored successive free throws, pulling Bob Jones ahead 51-50 until the Jets scored yet again and the Patriots missed two shots.
Bob Jones could still be in the hunt for a title, as there are several games over the winter break before the rankings will be posted.
