Super Bowl 52: It All Came Down to This

Super Bowl LII had the Philadelphia Eagles take on the New England Patriots in frigid Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Eagles pulled out a big win with the final score of 44 to 33.

The Eagles, led by backup quarterback Nick Foles, came in as underdogs against the defending champ Patriots, led by the legendary duo of coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady. The competition also took place in the betting rooms as millions on millions of dollars were placed on certain bets about the game. The Patriots were considered a 4.5 point favorite, which means bets placed on the Eagles were both high-risk, but also high-reward if they pulled out the victory.

Many gameday traditions were held as well on gameday that go from the very simple to the incredibly elaborate. According to family friend, Bob Schultz, he said, “Traditions are key to a true gameday experience. I always invite several over from work for a huge buffet of grilled food, drinks, desserts, and lots of football. It’s just a fun, relaxed time to hang out with friends and watch some football.” Ms. Panagos, the multimedia publications teacher, said, “My family and I usually cook food based on which team we’re going for. Like this year, since we went for the Philadelphia Eagles, we had a spread of food from that area like cheesesteaks along with other Philadelphia favorites.”

Whether viewers went for the Patriots, the Eagles, Justin Timberlake, or the commercials, Super Bowl LII did not disappoint.
