The Bob Jones baseball team played against their rival team James Clemens. The baseball teams were competing for area champions and the opportunity to host the 1st round of playoffs. This was a big deal for the city not because of the title regional champs but the pride of winning against school rivals. The first game is the most important because if a team wins this game they have more of a chance to secure 2/3 game wins and it helps with mentality. 

The first game was on April 21, 2022, BJ won 10-0. On April 23, 2022, a doubleheader was scheduled and the BJ baseball team secured both game wins. The second game score was 10-8, and third was 7-5. An audience member, Martin Serafin, shared, “I was really happy for the varsity guys, and I knew we were going to sweep.”

The Bob Jones baseball team faced many challenges to get to the level of skill they are at now. The baseball team practiced all week, 4 days for workouts, and 3 for throwing. The head coach Jared Smith shared that the team’s biggest challenge was “staying humble and playing our best baseball in the playoffs.  Any team can beat you on any given day in the playoffs so we have to stay focused and locked in.” The team has also been acknowledged for how they focus on team accomplishments over individual accomplishments.
