Bob Jones Esports teams recently competed at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL. Some teams competed in the Alabama State League and some in the Central US Regional League for the fall season. Bob Jones competed in Rocket League, Madden, Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart, Splatoon 3, League of Legends, Overwatch 2, and NBA 2K. The fall season is now over for all the teams.
Coach Aubree White reflected on the season by saying, “BJHS Esports had an incredibly strong Fall season overall… League of Legends, Rocket League, and Madden finished the regular season completely undefeated. Rocket League, Madden, Super Smash Bros., League of Legends, Overwatch 2, and NBA 2k all made it into the playoff brackets with Rocket League winning their EIGHTH Alabama State Championship.”
This level of success is very uncommon in most levels of competition and takes a lot of dedication, skill, and a very strong program. Our Rocket League team has a very successful past and present, continuing to win state championships. If our teams continue with their current level of performance, they will have a very successful future. Our Esports program is very strong.
All of the teams have had to overcome adversity to get to the end of this fall season. Coach White also commented on troubles they have had throughout the semester by saying, “One difficulty we have faced this season is the Esports room on campus being incomplete for the entirety of the fall season. With the growth of the program, the players could have benefited greatly from being able to play and practice at school. We are hoping for its opening in the spring season.” Our Esports teams powered through not having any computers to practice on all semester, even though some of our teams are the best in the state.
Our Esport teams should be proud of how they competed this fall season!
