From May 2nd to May 4th Track & Field went down to Gulf Shores to compete in the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
They brought back FIVE GOLDS, TWO SILVERS, and THREE BRONZES!
JORDAN URRUTIA was most certainly the MVP of the entire meet. He SWEPT the sprints (100m, 200m, & 400m dashes). With a wind-aided time of 20.85, his 200m dash is now the FASTEST time in STATE HISTORY for the 7A classification and the SECOND FASTEST in STATE HISTORY. Urrutia added another GOLD Medal when he anchored the 4x400m relay with ZATHIAN WEBSTER, ELIJAH WELLS, and CALEB JOHNSON past Hoover.
ALIVIA URRUTIA completed our state championship GOLD Medals when she won the 400m dash. She also finished 5th in the 200m dash.
JOLISSA COE won the SILVER Medal in the 300m Hurdles and teamed with MOLLY HALTER, ZOEY HARRIS, and ALIVIA URRUTIA to bring home a BRONZE Medal in the 4x400m relay. She also finished 8th in the 800m run.
KALAH CHRISTOPHER won the SILVER Medal in the Long Jump with a School record-breaking jump of 18-01.75 and added a BRONZE in the 300m Hurdles.
JASMYNE ROCHELLE finished 3rd and brought home a BRONZE Medal in the High Jump.
The team of ZOEY HARRIS, RITSUKO KEZUKA, ALAYA OBIANOZIE, and KALAH CHRISTOPHER finished 8th place in the 4x100m relay.
SAMUEL JOHNSON finished 4th in the Triple Jump.
COLT DIXON finished 5th in the 300m Hurdles and teamed with ZATHIAN WEBSTER, ELIJAH WELLS, and CALEB SANDERS to finish 4th place in the 4x100m relay. Zathian closed out the scoring for the boys with an 8th-place finish in the 100m dash.
The Boys finished an impressive 4th place overall! The Girls finished in 7th place and were only 11 points shy of a top 3 finish.
