Situated right on the Tennessee river, the “Dew It On The Trails” Invitational at Point Mallard Park in Decatur was a strange course. The surface of the entire first half of the race was covered in concrete, and the back half was tight gravel down windy trails – and no side rails to prevent you from being knocked into the River. It was very scenic: the River flowed beautifully as we ran next to it.
Two milestones were reached with this race. The first of them being the first Sub-17 5K time in three years, achieved by Owen Lang. The second being the fastest 8th grade 5K time since 2017, a 19:00 by Chase Lehmann. Congratulations to both of them, they have worked hard for their achievements. Let’s see what the other results look like.

Analysis
There are many positives to take away from this race, as well as a few negatives. For the positives, Lang’s 16:59 stands out, as well as Hanson’s 17:11 – which he said he ran despite terrible stomach pain. As for the “Rehab” distinctions, both Allen and I are coming 0ff injury. I paced Lehmann, Frederickson, and Horn from the beginning of the race, all of whom ran PRs. As for the negatives, Byran has been plagued by sickness as of late, which explains his poor time. All in all, not bad.

Analysis
Pretty good for the JV. Hughes, after being injured for a significant period of time, came back incredibly strong and ran a PR. Charman also ran a massive PR, and was ahead of Hughes early in the race. Lang PR’d by a minute. Also, that’s the first time I’ve ever seen Austin’s team not get last. Although they finished 8th out of 12, their average was two minutes faster than the last place team.
