Scottsboro, AL, has been the standard location for North Alabama JV Gold ever since its inception. I got to run at the first JV Gold, and now, Bob Jones was able to host the 2024 iteration in Madison! This is a great development for our school, since we normally don’t host too many meets and this is definitely the most prestigious one we’ve ever hosted.
Why is it so prestigious? To be eligible to compete in JV Gold, you have to run a qualifying time. Eligible times differ from course to course, but on average, the qualifying time is 14:00 for a 2.0 mile. 13 of our JV were eligible to run at JV Gold, the highest number in school history. Due to scheduling conflicts arising from Space Camp, only 11 (still the highest in school history) were able to run.

Analysis
When looking at the standings, seeing Scottboro in first and Cullman in second was to be expected. Scottsboro has dominated the 5A Section for years, and Cullman consistently places top 5 in the 6A Section. Given this, Bob Jones placing third is an outstanding result. We beat all the 7A teams in our section comfortably, and the JV were rewarded justly with a plaque.
