As the 2024-2025 Basketball Season comes to an end, the boys’ basketball seniors weigh in on their experience as a Bob Jones High School basketball player. The team won the Huntsville City Classic, defeating Huntsville High School, the #2 team in the state. During the tournament, senior Kaden Rickard, Murray State Signee, was named the Huntsville City Classic MVP. Seniors Eric Marrow and Jaylen Rice were chosen for the Huntsville City Classic All-Tournament Team. So far, the team’s overall record is 18-10 with two wins over their cross-town rival James Clemens High School. The seniors were also recognized during Senior Night. The boys will play their last game before the playoffs against Hazel Green High School.
These seniors have been recognized for their talents, but what do they personally think they bring to the game? Kaden Rickard felt that he had “helped his teammates get better,” by sharing advice to his younger teammates to improve themselves both on and off the court. Aaron Young felt his personal strength was “the energy and support I bring to my teammates.” Jaylen England felt his ability to “just stay calm and trust myself” helped him perform well under pressure.
The seniors drew inspiration and influence from their families. Eric Marrow said, “My mom and sister have influenced me the most, just seeing how they put their minds toward anything and work to achieve that goal drives me to do the same within my career.” Chandler Vaughn credited his father: “My dad, he was the one who taught me a lot of my skill set.
As the regular season comes to a close, I asked the seniors about their favorite memories. Jaylen Rice replied, “My favorite basketball memory was being put on varsity as a freshman and being able to play with my brother who was a senior one last time.”
Each senior player brought something special to our basketball team this season. Congratulations, class of 2025! Be sure to catch their game against Hazel Green and to support the team throughout play-offs.
