Last Friday, the Bob Jones track team competed for the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Championship at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The female athletes who qualified for State were Alliyah Wright, Alivia Urrutia, Ami Marks, Ashley Lewis, Beatrice Barnes, Bree Czarnota, Charlotte Droege, Genevieve Adams, Jasmyne Rochelle, Molly Halter, Ritsuko Kezuka, Shamayah Halsey, Sydney Darnell, and Zoey Harris. The male athletes who qualified were Aaron Wiswesser, Andre Waddle, Branden Carter, Caleb Sanders, Colt Dixon, Cortlen Blaino, Dorian Jacobs-Lanier, Eli Roap, Elijah Wells, Jacob Parks, Jahden Reeves, Luke Allen, Owen Lang, Rhys Dorsey, Roman Hanson, Sawyer Andrews, Shaun Gordon, Timothy Mclean, and Zathian Webster.
Since the beginning of indoor season, our team worked hard to improve with each practice and after every race with the ultimate goal of representing Bob Jones at State. Despite not having access to a local indoor track and field facility, rain or shine, the Patriots were putting in the miles necessary to get them from Madison to Birmingham, often utilizing the gym to run bleachers. While some students were likely finally making it to bed after a funfilled Friday, the track team was waking up at 2 AM to catch the bus to the Crossplex to spend their whole Saturday competing with the best in Alabama.
