The cheerleaders were doing more than cheering on the crowd at Friday night’s game; they were leading them for a cause alongside Inside-Out Ministries.
They held a peanut butter and jelly drive at the Bob Jones and James Clemens game. They requested that Bob Jones fans bring peanut butter and James Clemens fans bring jelly. The two schools used their rivalry against each other to increase participation. ”The fundraising was for the Inside Out Ministries food pantry, and we collected peanut butter and jelly for people in need,” Crystal Butler said.
The event brought the two teams and fanbases together. “It was a lot of fun working with the cheerleaders at James Clemens,” Crystal Butler said. Though the team might have lost the inaugural football game, the James Clemens fans won the contest by bringing the most jelly to the game. The response at Friday’s night’s game shows how the two rival schools in Madison City can come together for a good cause.
