Seniors that are planning to go off to college should start visiting different schools if they haven’t done it already. Some people already have their dream college in mind, but if they haven’t visited the campus and received all of the information about tuition and the academic departments then attending their dream college won’t be a reality.
My recent college visit to my first choice, Howard University, was very informative and a great experience of college life. The campus and classes that they offered made me even more eager to go there. Then, the price of tuition became a problem. Sometimes the first choice of college may not be the most affordable choice. That’s why everybody needs options. Visit different colleges and explore the different opportunities they have to offer. Brittney Barker said, “I have visited UAB. I learned more about the housing and financial aid. They also served meals for the students visiting the campus.”
Campus visits provide a better knowledge of how the campus and academics are rather than looking online. Emiko said “I haven’t visited any colleges yet but, I am thinking about visiting Arizona State University or the Art Institute in Tucson, Arizona. I want more knowledge about the varieties of classes they have to offer.” Bob Jones gives three excused absences for college visits, a form can be picked up in the attendance office.
Talking to students that attend the college and asking questions about their experience will also be very helpful. Students that attend the college will be able to tell you more about the campus life and which classes they have taken.
Many seniors are still undecided on the college they would like to go to. Talking to Mrs. Roberts, Bob Jones’ college and career counselor, can help students with their decision. She provides information about many different colleges in our area and she also has information on financial aid and many different scholarships.
When preparing for college, explore your options. Many resources are available.
