Millions of people attempt to sell on eBay every day, but most don’t understand the effort necessary to sell an item on the site. For Mr. Rutledge’s second block management class, it was a truly enlightening experience.
The assignment in itself was simple, pick an item, and sell it. However, most found great difficultly in the small details such as cleaning, describing, and listing what they choose to sell. Mr. Rutledge provided things to sell for those who could not choose for themselves what they had.
“The hardest part was actually choosing an item worth selling.” explained junior Cyrus Patel, who had listed his item after four days of trying to choose something.
He isn’t the only one. 77% of the class did not have their item listed until four or five days after the assignment started, and some required major assistance on every step in order to complete the assignment. Most either didn’t have an item or did not want to sell something they had for personal reasons.
Once the item is up, the only thing to do is sit, wait, and hope the others find interest in your possession. Your grade is decided on different variables such as the profit you make. Meaning, if your item did not sell, you do not pass the assignment.
So before you try to list what you believe will sell because it is current or everyone wants it, remember that is isn’t easy to sell.
