It’s that time when the weather starts to get chilly and The Chili Food Drive begins to get hot. Here at Bob Jones, the annual Chili Drive is back again, from November 13th-20th, to serve up a competition for 3rd block classes to collect as many cans to win.
The class with the most cans brought in, receives an awesome pizza party by Dominos and who wouldn’t want that? The goal this year is to collect 2,000 cans of chili.
Mrs. Thaxton, a teacher at Bob Jones, helped put the food drive together. “The Science National Honor Society is collecting the food for Inside-Out Ministry here in Madison, providing food for the less fortunate and we have been very successful with this food drive in the past years.” She also said other Thanksgiving drives wouldn’t be that much of a competition. “We all have so much that most are willing to give a little more.”
One of many 3rd block classes such as Mrs. Sewell’s Forensic class participates in the chili can drive event. According to Mrs. Sewell, each of the students was required to bring four chili cans, which added up to hundred cans. At this rate, Bob Jones could reach the goal.
Jazzmon Evans, a junior from BJHS, is enthusiastic about the event. “We better win I want free pizza.” Other students like sophomore, Lilly Higdon, commented, “If I would have known about it, I would have brought some in. But I don’t remember hearing the announcement.”
Students helped for a great cause this year and showed that Bob Jones gives back to the community.
