A team from Bob Jones High School participated in the Alabama Envirothon state competition April 11-13, 2013, at the Alabama 4-H Center in Columbiana and won 3rd place.
Members of the team included Shannon Lambert, Nisha Patel, Robin Newman, David Lee, and Raymond Moosavi; their advisors were Mrs. Dale Brown and Mr. Ben Johnston.
Envirothon is sponsored by Legacy, Inc., RC & D Councils, Soil and Water Conservation Districts, Alabama Department of Environmental Management, NRCS and Canon, Inc.
Envirothon educates students in current real-life environmental issues, incorporating concerns for soils, aquatics, wildlife, forestry, and a current issue which changes annually.
It combines in-class curriculum with hands-on field experiences which enhances a student’s critical thinking and problem solving skills and prepares them to be role models and leaders in their school and community.
