FCCLA, or Family Career and Community Leaders of America, is a club all about the students. The officers hold a meeting and give ideas of what they can do with the club. Here, all FACS, Family and Consumer Science, students communicate and socialize.
“It has taught me leadership skills and has created lifelong friendships with people I may have never met without the club,” said Victoria Moorehead. FCCLA is a club for FACS department, all students from Mrs. Kristy Wheeler, Mrs. Brandy Van Dam, and Mrs. Stephanie Lindsey’s classes can be a part of the club. As a club, FCCLA leads several fundraisers, charities and other activities. FCCLA also have Star Events, which are competitions where students can show what they have learned in the classes.
“It is such an exciting experience to compete in Star Events and they have taught me responsibility and time management skills,” Victoria Moorehead said. All of the information about FCCLA will be posted on the bulletin board out on the FACS hall at the B-wings of the school.
FCCLA is currently trying to get their club t-shirt chosen as soon as possible. FCCLA club t-shirts are generally designed by students from the FACS; you can be the designer. If you are creative and a part of FACS department, try your hand at designing the t-shirt for the entire club. Hand in your design to Mrs. Wheeler in room B119 then it will be taken for consideration.
“I love FCCLA and would recommend it for anyone who is interested in a community centered club and [in] a chance to develop personal goals and create great friendships,” Victoria Moorehead said. If you want to get more information about FCCLA, come by any of the FACS teachers’ rooms B118, B119, and B120. The first meeting date will be announced in September.
