All you have to do is show up, and you’re in! The Citizens of the World Club is completely new to Bob Jones. No student will be denied entrance to the club for any reason. The club’s first meetings will be held in the Bob Jones library at 7:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m on Tuesday, September 10th.
The Citizens of the World Club will educate members on various world cultures and offer service opportunities to people who want to make a difference in their communities. These service opportunities stress embracing cultural diversity. Events the club will participate in include the Peace Rally on September 20th and the Annual International Festival of North Alabama on September 28th.
Rahul Gaini, a founder of the Citizens of the World Club, is excited about what is to come. “I saw that there were a lot of kids who couldn’t join clubs in Bob Jones based on their GPAs, but they still wanted to participate in community service. This club is cool because anybody can join,” he said. “My background has played a huge role in who I am. I’m really happy that we’ll be able to participate in events that emphasize the many cultural backgrounds in our community.”
Noah Harbin, a senior at Bob Jones, has been waiting for a club like this. “Bob Jones has a lot of diversity. So many kids in our school come from so many different places,” he said. “The events we are going to do in this club are really exciting, and I look forward to being a part of them.”
Make sure you show up to the Citizens of the World Club’s first meetings in the library at 7:45 a.m. or 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10th. Talk to sponsor Mrs. Huskey if you have any questions regarding the club.
