From the recesses of Tumblr to the front page of Netflix, BBC television show Doctor Who has become more popular in recent years than it was when it first aired in the 1960’s. “Whovians,” or avid fans of the show, have been cropping up everywhere, so it was no surprise to hear of their appearance at Bob Jones High School.
Many students were surprised when the Doctor Who club made its premier at the Bob two weeks ago. Since then, the club members have been working hard to recruit other Whovians, Sherlockians, and other fans of BBC shows.
“I just wanted to meet more Whovians, and try to get a big group started [so that] we can all enjoy Doctor Who together,” comments club founder Steven Nicke, senior.
This club is not just for the super fans though. It is open to all Doctor Who fans, whether you can name all of the doctors or the color of David Tennant’s shoes or not.
“It’s not exclusive to anyone,” says Nicke, “any type of Whovian can join; it’s not an exclusive club.”
So, whether you obsess over the Doctor or not, you can attend the Doctor Who club meetings on Wednesdays after school in Mr. Frederick’s room.
