Christmas is right around the corner. A Christmas card can cheer anybody up during the holidays. What’s better than receiving a handmade card? I hope this tutorial inspires you to create your own pop up Christmas card.
Step 1.
You will need watercolor paper, regular card stock, either construction or craft paper, a hot glue gun, 3D foam adhesive tape and watercolors. First, you will fold your watercolor paper in half vertically.
Step 2.
On the outside of the card (on the side with the crease), make two separate boxes. The boxes should be separate and different in size. Make one 1 inch high and another 1 1/2 inches high. Cut the sidelines of the boxes but not the top line.
Step 3.
Once the lines are cut, fold the boxes toward the inside the card. It should look like this.
Step 4.
Add some detail to the boxes and color too. Decorate the background, too.
Step 5.
Draw an elf and a Christmas tree on a piece of card stock (feel free do something different, if you’d like). Color your creations and cut them out.
Step 6.
Use 3D foam and glue the elf onto the top of one of the present boxes. Place the Christmas tree to the side. Draw some Christmas lights around the elf. Use some construction or craft paper to make shapes. Glue the shapes down. This will be the section where you can write message.
Step 7.
Glue another sheet of watercolor paper to the back of the card in order to cover up the cut out parts. Once that’s been done, cut out more shapes and draw on the front of the card. Write a nice message or simply write Merry Christmas.
And there you have it!
