A 36 on the ACT: it’s not a dream. All of us can accomplish this by improving our skills and learning some tips on taking the exam. It is possible to get a perfect score on the ACT.
Mrs. Cindy Huskey, who is the ACT Prep and PSAT Prep class teacher, said, “Getting a 36 on the ACT is pretty exciting, especially when colleges compete for commitments from those kids.”
Most students start taking the ACT during their junior year when they begin to decide which college they want to attend. You can take the ACT as many times as you want and submit your highest score to colleges you apply for.
Use this as a guide to help yourself succeed on the ACT. Here are some tips and advices for all students who are planning to take the ACT:
Get registered online (either on your own or with help from Bob Jones College & Career Center in media center). Don’t forget to print your entrance ticket after you finish.
Practice for the test beforehand; don’t try to cram your practice into a few days. You will get stressed out if you try to learn everything at once. You should practice a little bit every day to build up your knowledge and adjust to the format of the exam. You may also take a prep class or get a tutor to help you study.
David Gunther, a Bob Jones senior who got perfect score on the ACT, said, “The most valuable practice I had for taking the ACT came from the classes in school I have take or am taking.”
Mrs. Huskey stated, “Over the course of teaching the [prep] class for 8 years, my kids averaged a 6-8 point increase.”
Try your best to answer the practice test questions in the prep book before you look at the answers in the back of the book.
Prepare your exam supplies before you go to bed. You need to get plenty of sleep the night before. Don’t be late for the exam, either!
On the test day, bring your printed ticket to the test center. You will not be admitted if you don’t have your ticket and an ID for identification at the testing location. Also remember to bring some No. 2 pencils and an acceptable calculator. Don’t forget to bring a snack to eat during the break, too!
Getting a perfect score on the ACT sounds easy for a few people, but who knows how much time they have spent practicing.
Do your best on the ACT and pace yourself,. Make 36 your goal. “I have to read a lot in classes to keep up, I got good practice for the reading section on the ACT,” David said. Everyone needs practice to show what they know on the exam. If other people can get 36 on the ACT, why can’t you?
