Captured by Faith: Fields of Faith
October 31, 2014
Fields of Faith was a student-led event hosted at the Bob Jones High School track on Tuesday, October 21, from 7 to 8 p.m. It was time of worship and an opportunity to spread the word of Christ. Fields of Faith was not an event just for “Jesus Freaks,” rather an event for all people who are curious, strong in faith, or even unsure.
Fields of Faith has three goals:
1. To bring many people together at one time.
2. To share Scripture and testimonies.
3. To encourage everyone to read God’s Word and deepen his or her relationship with Jesus.
The gathering was a community-wide event and brought together eight schools: James Clemens High School, Huntsville High School, Sparkman High School, Madison Academy, Westminster Christian Academy, Buckhorn High School, Randolph School, and Bob Jones High School.
Event sponsors stated, “What is the difference in a nation that has no scriptures and doesn’t read them, and a nation that has an abundance of scriptures and doesn’t read them? Nothing.” This was a great opportunity of fellowship, encouragement, and outreach to our community.
Listening to Bob Jones junior Mary Elizabeth Beasley sing “Oceans” by Hill Song United engendered an emotional time of worship that was echoed by the many students who attended. Claire Munster, a Fields of Faith attendee, says, “I had an amazing time!” There were many FCA leaders who shared their story and testimonies with the students. Madison Duthu, a senior at Bob Jones High School, was one of the leaders who shared. She stated, “I was a Sunday Christian, but now I am devoted everyday.” Her story touched many as they gathered in her group to pray and share stories of their lives.
There is a lot to know about Fields of Faith, and there is also a lot behind the scenes. The Fields of Faith organization has many goals, and for more details visit the Fields of Faith website at www.fieldsoffaith.com.
“What is Fields of Faith?
Fields of Faith is a student-led event. Students invite, pray for, share with, and challenge their peers to read the Bible and follow Jesus Christ. An athletic field provides a neutral rally point where a community can come together.
Attending a Field
What will happen at a Fields of Faith event? The event should start with prayer. Then, students will be sharing their faith testimonies. After this, students will be challenging their peers to read the Bible and to come to faith in Jesus Christ. Typically, a Fields of Faith event lasts 45 to 90 minutes and is open to all people of all ages.
Why Fields of Faith?
You Can Help Change Our Culture. It’s time to spark a spiritual movement for God. Christianity needs a change in momentum—students who will stand together against the pressures and temptations in our world and be a generation that is committed to reading the Bible and applying it to their lives. It’s time to Get in the Game and Get in the Book!”
