Computer Science: Opportunities Abound

Technology is everywhere you look, and there are people who know how to capitalize on it. Coding skills are some of the most sought after skills in the job market.  It is an area that also pays well.

Computer science is both easier and more complicated than it might seem.  It is basically putting in code into a computer to tell it what to do and then having the computer output it.

Programming languages range from C++ to other high computer languages. Learning to program you might want to start with C++ so that it can allow you to learn other languages more easily. Most languages don’t differ too heavily from one another.

Some schools don’t offer the chance to take computer science in high school, but there are some schools that introduce coding skills in middle school and even elementary school.  Some school districts are even making it a mandatory course.

At Bob Jones, you can learn the basics of C++ and taking AP Computer Science will also teach you a different language called Java. Mrs. Rountree teaches all of the computer science classes at Bob Jones, including AP.

A survey of students that took the Bob Jones computer science class said it was fun and entertaining and said that they would retake the class again.

Knowing the basics of different programming languages can open up many options for you.  The more students who take computer science, the more opportunities can open up for computer science as a program.  For example, a cybersecurity course was added due to student interest.  The more you know, the more job opportunities increase.
