ACT Tips

What’s the one test that students dread most during their high school years? The ACT. For years, students stress over this “life or death”test, which probably included a few drops of sweat and some tears.

A student’s overall score could determine getting into his or her favorite college or can even result in scholarship money.  Mrs. Hadden, the ACT prep teacher here at Bob Jones, shared some tips on the ACT:

1) The night before the ACT, get everything prepared so you won’t have to rush in the morning and get a good night of sleep as well.

2) Wake up early and eat a good breakfast. You may even want to read a little get your head in the game.

3) Dress in layers in case it’s too hot or too cold in the testing room.

4) It’s better to be early than on time so you can make sure you have everything you need.  Make sure you have two ACT approved calculators (in case one malfunctions), two-four #2 sharpened wooden pencils, your photo ID and ticket admission, a snack, and a watch to track how much time you have left on each portion of the test.

5) The most important tip is to BE CONFIDENT! If you have confidence and you’re relaxed, there’s a better chance you will do a good job.
