Bob Jones Hospital?

The Biomed Academy will be improving the lab experience for its students.

Other high schools offer labs that simulate the real world.  For example, Handley High School in Winchester, VA opened Medical Practice Labs, and in general, labs like this seem to be a trend for Medical Academies.

Biomed teacher Mrs. Teare said that the lab will include beds, simulator machines, EKG  machines, and mannequins, and that it will cost about $10,000. Mrs. Teare added, “We are hoping to be able to offer CNA training for seniors.”

Serena Pradhan, a Bob Jones cheerleader, stated, “A better lab gives people the idea of what it’s going to be like going in the medical field.”

Bob Jones student Maja Escobar is interested in the medical academy and she said, “I’ve always wanted to do something within the medical field and a lab would make it so much more interesting. I hope we would visit the lab everyday.”

Administration has not determined a location for the Medical Simulation Lab. Mrs. Teare anticipated the lab’s arrival after Spring Break.
