Our Very Own Film and Animation Club
October 27, 2016
Wait, what? Bob Jones has a Film and Animation Club? That’s right, Film and Animation Club has been going on for three years now. The Cinematography Club preceded it and eventually morphed into today’s Film and Animation Club.
In Film and Animation, you can learn from more experienced people about the art of animation. This club will help you learn what it takes to be an animator and provides you with some animating skills. If animation isn’t your scene, then there’s always the film segment of the club. You can learn how to successfully shoot a live action film. Not only can you learn more about filming and animating, you can also learn how to script and write stories.
Caroline Shaw, a member of the club, stated,”I joined because I really like to draw and I wanted to learn how to animate. So far, [the club] has been very helpful.” Caroline also said that she wasn’t given opportunities like this in the other states she’s lived in, so it’s great that she and many others now have this opportunity to learn more about their interest.
Mrs. Panagos, who has been the sponsor for 10 years, stated, “I think it’s important because storytelling in all forms is important.” She also said that she has students that have been in the club that are still making films and that have been successful professionally. She added that our school’s focus is usually on AP classes and that some students don’t have time to take Multimedia Design, so this is a good substitute.
Film and Animation Club is a great opportunity to learn more about what it takes to make an animation or a film and it’s a great chance to meet people that have similar interests. Film and Animation meets every Tuesday from 3:30 to 5:00 in C126 (Mrs. Panagos’s Room) and typically has a Patriot Path option once every month.
There’s also a working plan for a convention in March, so keep an eye out!
Here’s the official YouTube channel if you’d like to sample some of the club’s works.
