The Mad City Rockers is a new robotics team with students from both Bob Jones and James Clemens. The two schools have come together to make a joint team. The team is open to students from both schools and both schools compete together.
Any student wanting to join needs to know a few things. Firstly, no prior experience in robotics or engineering is needed. All you need is an interest and you can learn the skills while on the team. It is a great place to learn and grow upon whatever level of skill you have.
According to Mrs. Tubbs, a sponsor of the team, said good qualities to have for the team are “an ability to work in a team and a willingness to learn and flexibility.”
Robotics is best for people who are creative and willing to put in hard work to pull their weight on the team. People who are willing to learn and try new things are a perfect fit for the team. Future projects for the team will allow people with those skills to excel.
The Mad City Rockers work on projects throughout the year. There are 2 main competitions that team members spend the majority of their time working on. The organization has high hopes for upcoming events that they are preparing for. Mrs. Tubbs commented on this saying “We’re looking forward to the FIRST competition in April. It’s our main competition where we get to show off our hard work! We compete with teams from all over the world, so we know we’re up against the best. If we do well there, we’ll end up going to Nationals, then maybe even Worlds!”
People on the team from both schools will have to use their skills to make things for competitions, whether it is something they already knew or something team members learned from being on the team. This team is a great place to grow teamwork and important skills within robotics. The Mad City Rockers are looking forward to getting a shot in the events to come and building the robotics programs in both schools.
