Bob Jones held the 2024-2025 school year College and Career Fair on September 4th, 2024. From 4:00-6:00, students could come down to the main gym where 54 colleges and careers came to Bob Jones to talk to students and show them what their job or college was like.
The benefits from going to the fair can vary depending on what the student is looking for. A student who attends the fair can learn about their college options if they want to attend somewhere in or close to Alabama. Also, they can look at possible career options so they know what course or courses to take in college. A lot can be learned while attending this fair. Students can learn what certain colleges offer, such as special programs, extra classes, summer sessions, workshops, and scholarships. This fair also allows students to speak to college representatives in person rather than by emailing and looking online.
Students can learn about different jobs and see what the job is like. This can be helpful because career representatives can tell the student the job responsibilities and what the job involves. Students can also learn about careers that they didn’t even know existed.
Having a college and career fair has benefits and opens opportunities to students, and Bob Jones was lucky to have such variety offered during its fair. It would be nice to have more than one college and career fair, maybe one in the fall and one in the spring. More colleges could come and present what they offer to students. A broader range of jobs could come and give students the information on what their job is like. Having more than one fair during the school year can also allow more students to come.
Having the fair after school lets students attend with their families, but because it’s after school, not all students can attend. Most students may have an after-school activity, a sports practice, or a job. Having a fair during the school day could open up the opportunity for more students to attend. Therefore, having a fair during the school day could be something to consider for the future. More students would likely attend, especially if teachers could bring their classes during different time slots.
